BRITAIN’S top cyclists reckon won more than 14 gold medals in Beijing
BRITAIN’S top cyclists reckon they
can pedal their way to MORE than the 14 gold medals
they won in Beijing.
Olympic aces Victoria Pendleton and Chris Hoy stormed to victories at
the World Track Cycling event in Melbourne in the keirin and sprints
respectively.
And Pendleton believes GB’s cyclists have taken things to another level ahead of this summer.
She said: “In the last six months we’ve improved and kept up with the times that are getting quicker around the world. We’ve got time left to prepare for the Olympics.
“And in front of our home crowd we can give more and put some great performances together.”
Meanwhile, GB stars Danielle King, Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell set a world record of 3min 16.805sec in the women’s team pursuit.
But King says the record is nothing — unless they win gold in London this summer.
She said: “We can definitely go quicker and beat our world record in London if we keep working hard.”
